Darwin Sub Aqua Club. The only dive club in Darwin – or the NT for that matter. Members meet every Thursday evening at the Ski Club http://www.dsac.com.au
For those of you who never knew, in 1983 the team from the Fannie Bay Dive Shop attempted a Guinness Book of Records, record breaking attempt of an underwater crossing from Darwin to Mandorah – driving a Toyota Landcruiser. Awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJNVXLswK2s
This isn’t a dive site unfortunately as it’s protected under the Historic Shipwrecks Act, however, not many people in Darwin know that there is a large WWII Japanese submarine, the I-124, sitting in 48m water about 60NM NW of Darwin. The ship, which was sunk with all hands in 1942, has an intriguing story to it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_submarine_I-124
